Shawn began his insurance career with AIG in 1998. Throughout his career he has developed well-rounded skills by holding leadership positions in Sales, Underwriting and Management for Insurance Carriers & Wholesale Brokers. In 2008, he joined RISC as the Chief Sales Officer and Chief Marketing Officer. His primary responsibilities were for Producer Sales Development & Agency Management. In 2013, Shawn was tasked with developing & remarketing programs within the agency. This is where Shawn developed his passion for administering programs and has been recognized for managing some of the longest tenured & profitable programs in their respective niches (Construction and Upstream Oil & Gas). Shawn was ultimately promoted to President.
RISC was eventually acquired by Amwins, where Shawn formed a branch office for Amwins Program Underwriters in Dallas. In addition to managing his existing programs, Shawn launched two new programs during his tenure there, Alarm Installation Contractors and Oil & Gas consultants.
In 2021, Shawn founded IPA with the vision of a company that returned the focus back on its customers & employees rather than EBITDA and profit margins. He wanted a firm that could exceed its clients' expectations while simultaneously delivering a career path, competitive compensation, and work-life balance to employees.
Shawn is a graduate of Northeastern State University, is a past President of the Texas Surplus Lines Association, and has held several board seats within the industry.
